Bounty Hunter

Bounty Hunter is a romantic comedy about a journalist(Aniston) and an ex-cop turned bounty hunter(Butler). They used to be married, but split and now Aniston has jumped bail for a story so Bulter gets to bring her in.

I was excited to see this movie because A. It looked funny. B. I love a good chick flick. C. I usually like movies with Gerard Butler. But if you saw the funny previews for this movie then stop there and save yourself an hour and a half. Basically the previews were the movie. All of the funny parts were shown and so all we were left with was the inappropriate parts. Aniston's movie mom is completely random and not in a good way. There is a lot of bad acting, and a very too long and very too revealing scene in a strip club. Keep your $10, keep your $3, I wouldn't even suggest getting it in the $1 rental. Kind of harsh, but there it is. See this movie instead. Look for its review soon.

Alice

Rating: N/A

Rolo Grade: A-

This is not your typical Alice in Wonderland. This is SyFy's version and it is great. Also since it is SyFy's version and only has been aired on SyFy it is not movie rated. But at the most it is TV-14, but I really don't think it would be that extreme.

It is about a girl Alice who while looking for her new boyfriend Jack, follows the "white rabbit" into the looking glass and into Wonderland. Through a sequence of events she learns that all humans that come into Wonderland are called oysters because the Queen has drugged them and is sucking out all of their emotions to make tea. So Alice teams up with Hatter to try and find Jack, and stop the Queen.

Now this synopsis may sound very strange, but let's face it... Alice is strange. But I promise it is a fun take on an old story and is a good movie. It has humor, it has romance, and even though it is about 3 hours long it goes by quickly. So rent it!

Remember Me

I first would like to defend my grade. The movie in general was a good movie. It had a story that has been done, but had it's own twists which was nice. However, I would have liked this movie so much more if:

1. Pierce Brosnan did not try to have a New York accent

2. Robert Pattinson could convey any other emotion other than wounded young adult who can't get over themselves or their issues

3. There wasn't so many issues

This movie is about two families living the in New York. Tyler (Pattinson) has a broken family with a brother who committed suicide, and Ally (Ravin) who witnessed her mothers murder when she was 11. To get back at Ally's dad, who arrested Tyler, Tyler tries to get Ally to go out with him. Well she does which is the beginning of their relationship. There are some more issues with both families, the worst of which happens to Tyler's younger sister who is getting bullied by some girls at school. All in all it is about a family, or two families coming together and learning to lean on each other.

If you really feel like blowing $10 you could see this in the theaters, but be warned that Brosnan drops the F-bomb twice in 5 mins. and the make-out scenes are a little too long for my taste. But if you are in the mood for a good drama and you like the weird acting of Robert Pattinson you will probably like this movie.

Alice in Wonderland

First thing is that I like strange movies, usually. When I am in the mood then I love a movie that is just completely random. This is usually why I like Tim Burton. His movies have elements in them that makes you say, "How, or rather why, in the world did someone even think of that?" Yet, that is what makes his movies fun and interesting.

Now on to the movie. Everyone knows about the story of Alice in Wonderland. I have actually never read the book(which I now need to do), I have only seen the cartoon movie which is weird and a little freaky. Well no surprises that this Alice in Wonderland is also weird and a little freaky. It is about a girl, Alice, who follows a little white rabbit in a waist coat down a rabbit hole. She then meets a whole group of very different people and creatures in Wonderland. She also has to save everyone in Wonderland from the wicked Queen of Hearts and her beast. The fun parts come from the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp) and the March Hare, also the general randomness that comes with any Tim Burton film. All in all it was a good movie, but probably not my favorite. It is also fun to see all of the detail in 3-D and for that I would suggest spending the money to see this movie.

Old Dogs

Last weekend was a double feature and one of the movies Popcorn and I saw was Old Dogs. This was a very family friendly movie and generally a feel good film. This movie did remind me a lot of Wild Hogs which was another feel good film about a bunch of older men trying to have an adventure. In Old Dogs Robin Williams gets the surprise of a lifetime, that the one impulsive decision he made one weekend now means he is a father to twins. When the mother has to go to jail for two weeks he is forced to take care of them.

John Travolta and Robin Williams are hilarious together and even more funny in the movie because everyone thinks that they are the children's grandparents instead of being their father. Since this movie is already out in the cheap theater I would suggest waiting for the DVD, but it is a definite rental if you are in the mood for a good clean comedy.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief

Popcorn Grade: B-

Even though Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian was a very popular book(being the last book in a series of 5), there are still a lot of people who have never read or heard of Percy Jackson. I am not one of those people and read the books two years ago, and enjoyed them very much. But as is the problem with most movies which are based on books I have read, I had expectations and therefore the movie wasn't as good as I wanted. This being the case I will review the movie based on Popcorn's view because he is one of those people who did not know that Percy Jackson and the Olympians was a book, let alone a series.

Percy Jackson thinks he is an average teenage boy going through high school with ADHD and dyslexia. He has a loving mother and a very rude step-father. He does not remember his real father who left when he was just a baby, but Percy soon finds out that his real father is Poseidon, god of the sea. Percy then gets shoved into this world full of gods, demons, and crazy teenagers. All in all Popcorn liked the movie. It had some great action and the story line is just fun. He would recommend spending the money to see this movie in the theaters.

Fame

Rolo Grade: C-

If you are in the mood for music and dancing then you might want to watch this movie, but that would be the only reason. However if you are really in the mood for a movie with music and dancing I could recommend better ones than Fame.

This is a movie about a bunch of kids at the Performing Arts School in NY. There are little plots here and there, but mostly it is supposed to portray these kids trying to be famous and "find themselves". Really this movie was a bad version of Step Up, Save the Last Dance, and High School Musical. The only reason I am giving this movie an average grade is because there was some good dancing and music, but if you are thinking about seeing this movie I would say don't. You should watch one of the other movies I have mentioned.

When in Rome

I was in a movie mood tonight so I went to see When in Rome. I really like Kristen Bell, especially in Fan Boys, and lets face it who out there does not have a little crush on Josh Duhamel? I love the fact that a lot of movies are packed full of celebs. Dax Shepard, Jon Heder, Will Arnett, Danny Devito, and Anjelica Hoston were all characters. This movie even has a completely random cameo by Shaq.

But anyway about the movie, it is about Beth who is burned one to many times and doesn't believe in love anymore until she meets Nick. But when Beth was in Rome at her baby sister's wedding she stole coins out of the fountain of love. The coins that she took belong to men that are now madly in love with her. Does Nick really love her? Or is he just under a spell?

All in all the movie was a good chick flick. I smiled, laughed, and even giggled once or twice. But on the car ride home I was trying to think about what I though was so funny and I couldn't think of anything. Which makes me think that I was just really in the mood for a movie and if you are in the mood for a chick flick this is one to see. But if not you can wait for it to go to the cheap theater, or even DVD.
